After graduating from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a BFA in 2002, I was still unsure of what I wanted my work to say. During the summer of 2002, I was given the opportunity to work in Italy with 19 other artists who were also on their own search. This workshop offered me the opportunity to talk to these artists about the concerns, ideas and themes in their artwork. Through this dialogue, I was able to target what I wanted my art to say about my community, my world and me.
